Almost every story I have published or exhibited began as personal work. Many of these are long-term projects — Chedino, Calendar Girls, and Rainbow Girls, as well as series such as The Black Mambas and Queens League, all started from my own initiative.

I often work this way because, in my experience, publications rarely commit without first seeing the shape of a story. By investing the time myself, I can explore freely, build trust, and show editors what the work could become. That approach usually means spending months in one place, returning again and again until the story has had time to unfold.

  • The way you tell your story online can make all the difference

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
