I am a Berlin-born documentary photographer exploring themes of representation, environment, identity, and social activism, often through long-term projects.

My work has been featured in international publications including NPR, The New York Times, Die Zeit, Bloomberg Businessweek, Al Jazeera, TIME, DAZED, and WIRED. I am a Pulitzer Center grantee and an International Women’s Media Foundation Fellow.

The New York Times:
‘Far, Far Away’

Kelly remembers the moment the world’s most remote inhabited island first came into view. From a distance, Tristan da Cunha looked like a dark triangle on the horizon. Up close, she saw the island’s tiny settlement spread below volcanic cliffs.

Then it became her home.

NPR: ‘The Busiest Place You’ve Never Seen'

You’d be forgiven for thinking that life on Tristan da Cunha is quiet: a hammock-strung-between-two-coconut-palms kind of existence, somewhere in the shimmering blue Pacific. It is anything but.
